Stop waiting for time - time isn't waiting for you.

It has been a long time since I posted on my blog. A lot has happened in the last 4 years. Job changes, travel, my husband retiring. Lots and lots of changes.

I have always wanted to write, a book, a novel, an article, poems..... but life happens and excuses are a plenty. I have dabbled with writing throughout the years, such as school assignments, a couple of poems published in the local free news papers and so on.

As I mentioned in the first paragraph, I changed jobs recently and with this job I had an opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. for a conference. It was a very interesting conference, we were blessed with beautiful weather, and had a chance to do a little sightseeing. However, the best part of the trip was when a pleasant woman asked if the seat next to me was available.

"Yes" I said and then continued to get settled in anxious to get back home, and back to my routine. Then we began a  conversation. You know the usual "Are you traveling for business or fun?" type of conversation. I explained about my work as a Health Educator and this was a conference I had attended that was very informative, interesting and that I not only was able to do some networking, but was able to do some sightseeing.

When I asked her, was her trip business or pleasure, she stated that she was heading for Tulsa for a writers conference, I could not contain my excitement. "So you are a writer?" I stated, trying so hard to act matter of fact and not sound like a giggly teenager who just met the celebrity that they are the president of the fan club. She replied to me that yes she was a writer. Of course, I had several questions after that, and we had a very pleasant conversation.  Since that trip, seven months ago I have read 5 of her books. She writes historical novels, my favorite genre. I told her that I always wanted to write a book, but at 61 I feel that I am too old, she stated "You are never to old, I started at age 40". So the next question I ask myself today: Will I write that novel and be published or will I continue to put it on the back burner? More to come......

Personality Plus

I found a new blog site ... /www.reneeswope.blogspot.com/ .....she talks about, Florence Littauer's book Personality Plus...in this book four personalities are mentioned 1. Phlegmatic 2. Choleric 3. Sanguine 4. Melancholy I have not only read this book and taken the personality test years ago, but I had the privilege in going to a church Woman's conference and Florence was the guest speaker in 1996. She is an excellent speaker, and the book is quite interesting. I have taken several personality test, through the years either in school or through work. I have read "Please Understand Me II" by David Keirsey about temperament, character and intelligence and "Now, Discover Your Strengths" by Marcus Buckingham and Donald Clifton, PhD. These books are interesting, informative, thought provoking and motivating. They not only tell you about your personality, but about those around you. They teach you about other's personalities. It teaches about diversity of pe...
He turned around just in time to see her walk out the door. Their spat had been little, not like most spats. However, he thought this one may be the end of their relationship. So many times, they would break up, only to get back together again. Oh, but wasn’t the making up great. Didn’t it feel like they had just met for the first time. What was it that made this time different? Was it the look on her face? Or the last words that came out of his mouth or hers? No, it was something else, something so strong, something that felt so lifeless. He pondered on what to do next. His mind wandered to all the memories they shared both good and bad. Like the time the drove from Napa Valley to southern California down Highway 1. The smell of the fresh air, listen to the ocean waves against the rocks, the coolness of the breeze. Such sweet memories. “Slow down” she would say, “Slow down you are scaring me”. This did not stop him for he was an adventurous sort of man. He loved having his...
