Stop waiting for time - time isn't waiting for you.

It has been a long time since I posted on my blog. A lot has happened in the last 4 years. Job changes, travel, my husband retiring. Lots and lots of changes.

I have always wanted to write, a book, a novel, an article, poems..... but life happens and excuses are a plenty. I have dabbled with writing throughout the years, such as school assignments, a couple of poems published in the local free news papers and so on.

As I mentioned in the first paragraph, I changed jobs recently and with this job I had an opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. for a conference. It was a very interesting conference, we were blessed with beautiful weather, and had a chance to do a little sightseeing. However, the best part of the trip was when a pleasant woman asked if the seat next to me was available.

"Yes" I said and then continued to get settled in anxious to get back home, and back to my routine. Then we began a  conversation. You know the usual "Are you traveling for business or fun?" type of conversation. I explained about my work as a Health Educator and this was a conference I had attended that was very informative, interesting and that I not only was able to do some networking, but was able to do some sightseeing.

When I asked her, was her trip business or pleasure, she stated that she was heading for Tulsa for a writers conference, I could not contain my excitement. "So you are a writer?" I stated, trying so hard to act matter of fact and not sound like a giggly teenager who just met the celebrity that they are the president of the fan club. She replied to me that yes she was a writer. Of course, I had several questions after that, and we had a very pleasant conversation.  Since that trip, seven months ago I have read 5 of her books. She writes historical novels, my favorite genre. I told her that I always wanted to write a book, but at 61 I feel that I am too old, she stated "You are never to old, I started at age 40". So the next question I ask myself today: Will I write that novel and be published or will I continue to put it on the back burner? More to come......
I would love to hear your comments or questions below:

Sanguine 4. Melancholy I have not only read this book and taken the personality test years ago, but I had the privilege in going to a church Woman's conference and Florence was the guest speaker in 1996. She is an excellent speaker, and the book is quite interesting. I have taken several personality test, through the years either in school or through work. I have read "Please Understand Me II" by David Keirsey about temperament, character and intelligence and "Now, Discover Your Strengths" by Marcus Buckingham and Donald Clifton, PhD. These books are interesting, informative, thought provoking and motivating. They not only tell you about your personality, but about those around you. They teach you about other's personalities. LOOK UP!

When I graduated in 2011 with master’s degree the theme of the ceremony was “Look up!” Everyone has their eyes focused on their laptops, iPad, cell phones, TV etc. “Look up!” is the newest version to “Stop and smell the roses”.   There is a whole world out there, the world is passing you by, everything that happens in this world affects you. We stay at a condo on the beach every winter when visiting my family in Florida for Christmas. The seagulls fly by our 8 th story balcony every year and every day. Alas, every year I say “Hey, look at the birds”.   Unfortunately, no one listens, and they miss out. However, this year they accidently saw the birds, it was a fluke. They were so excited and talked for several minutes about this event. They acted like this was the first time it happened. Well…LOOK UP! The last 2 Christmases I saw dolphins in the water when looking out our condo window. Did anyone else see them? No, the computers, TV and cell phones were much more ...
