My friend Lynne, was one of many who had helped get me through the first few days after my news of Jonny's accident. She was with me the first night, so I would not have to be alone. We had a power outage that night, and Lynne wrote a beautiful poem, by candle light, in which I asked her to read at Jonny's Memorial Service. I have been given permission by Lynne to share this with my friends and post it on my blog site.
To You…..
My spirit soars
To the golden gates
I must arrive now
For I can’t be late.
God’s arms out stretched
Bringing me into his fold
Heaven’s bounty and glory
Are a sight to behold.
I wasn’t ready
I still had dreams
I feel your hearts break
As your tears run in streams.
Know that I’m safe
Surrounded by love
I’ll now watch you
From way up above.
God needed me now
He took me and a friend
With angels around
That God did send.
My spirit is light
And full of life
Eternally I live
And with no strife.
God’s grace is felt
For all who believe
Hold your hearts open
For I’ll never leave.
By your side I stand
A pillar that’s tall
Of marble I’m made
Giving strength to all.
Again we will meet
At some future time
Live a life full of joy
While you’re in your prime.

Thank you to Lynne for being with Sandy during her time of need...with your presence, your poem, your friendship and your love. Thank you Sandy for publishing Lynne's poem.
ReplyDeleteHugs from Jackie
Sandy, what a lovely poem and to be written by Lynne for your son....what a wonderful friend you have. Framily and friends are so important and their unconditional love and support will lift us up every time. I am so glad you have Lynne in your life.....:-) Hugs
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Such a treasure to have Lynne in your life, and to have her beautiful gift of poetry. A gift that gives comfort every time you read it.
ReplyDeleteI find it so poignant that there was a blackout that night, and that this poem was written for you and Jonny by candlelight. It makes something that is so meaningful even more so.
God Bless you and God Bless your friendship.
And thank you both for sharing this with us.
That power outage was definitely a blessing from God to make the poem so 'naturally' beautiful...it also made it so appropriate because some 'light' went out of your life and now there was some friendship 'light' to help you. Hopefully the rest of us can be lights for you or shoulders to lean on. Do thank Lynne from your new friends that we are so glad that she has been there for you.
ReplyDeleteblessings and hugs,
marcy
Hi! I meandered over to your site from Diana who received your "Warm Hearts" award from Eileen. I am deeply moved by your post today. I am also a mother of grown children...what a work in progress parenting is.
ReplyDeleteThe poem is beautiful...
I especially love these two stanzas:
My spirit is light
And full of life
Eternally I live
And with no strife.
God’s grace is felt
For all who believe
Hold your hearts open
For I’ll never leave.
I believe that God's Kingdom is with us now...
Romans 14:17
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
I also love this verse:
Hebrews 12:28
Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.
~Strength & Peace~
Boundless Blessings on this Beautiful day! ~Maria
